Recreational Ballooning is the most popular form of hot air ballooning in New Zealand. Individuals fly balloons for fun and to share the sport with others. Most people either go for a balloon flight or get interested in crewing when participating at balloon fiesta’s. Once crew feel confident they may move up into furthering there passion by investing in hot air balloon pilot training hopefully followed by investing further by purchasing a hot air balloon.
Through March and April balloon fiesta’s or festivals are held to bring balloonists together to share the sport of ballooning with members of the public.
